: DJ Guide: levels

This is something to keep in mind at first, but not to worry about too much.  However, as you start to get the hang of beatmtching, you want to start to think about it.

What you want to ensure is that the record you're mixing in sounds the same level/volume/loudness as the one that's already playing.  It helps a lot to have the facility to be able to see the levels of the input you're cueing up displayed on your mixer.  If you don't, you have to do it by ear.  You should (eventually) be good enough that you can sort the levels out purely from what you can hear in the headphones and over the speakers/monitor.
